Milan & Verona, Italy

We went to Milan to do some sightseeing. I was impressed by all the green in the downtown area. Many apartments have balconies with lots of plants. Even many roofs have gardens, and trees line many streets. We visited the Milan Cathedral. This is the second largest cathedral exceeded only by St Peters in Rome. It was magnificent! Then we visited some other nearby sites such as the Galleria and saw LaScalla Opera House. This was a rather plane building on the outside. We didn't see inside. Then we drove around seeing among other things the Fortz Palace.

Verona is an old city. It is the city that Shakespeare set "Romeo and Juliet". It is fiction but there was a family named Capulet and we visited Juliet's balcony. As you go in to the court the legend is that if you write your name on the wall it guarantees luck in love. The walls are plastered with names and slips of paper with names stick with chewing gum. Quite messy but still neat. They clean it once a year. It is illegal but still people do it.The city was very crowded but quite charming. We had a great guide. There are parts of buildings that date to Roman times. We walked quite a bit and I had fun with T'Karri. There was a white street mime on the corner where we assembled. I went by with T'Karri and the mime broke character to come over to see her. He even got his camera and had Linda take a picture of him and us. He loved her!
