The Chrispin's shields also use the MPF effect to halt all molecular motion. This can be synchronized to the gravic generators to dampen inertia during a heavy hit on the shields. The shields can be used as a pulsed stasis field allowing low speeds. This allows low speed penetration while shielding against destructive high speed penetrations such as recovering shuttle craft while keeping the shields up.
A permeable shield is used in the hanger to block any passage of atmosphere but opens around metalic objects allowing shuttles to land in the hanger without leakage. Solid doors are closed when there is no shuttle activity.
In the two years since the Commissioning of the DSS Chrispin on July 20, 2471, the Chrispin has roamed the galaxy in search for life. During that time only a small fraction of the galaxy has been searched.
Contact has been made with the Kalarians and commerce has begun between our two cultures. Contact was made with the Dragorians however these culture has so degenerated after a catastrophic war that they remain under quarantine. There has also been evidence of ancient culture that is perhaps a million years old. So far two artifacts have been discovered indicating a high technological culture however no other traces have been discovered.

The DSS Chrispin is a Deep Space Ship dedicated to peaceful exploration of the Universe. The goal is to learn about God's creation. The operating principle is that there should be no conflict between science and religion. If there is a conflict, then the understanding of one or the other is wrong. Hence there is an ongoing effort to expand man's understanding of both the physical and the religious world. The Chrispin's role is primarily to the physical but does not forget the spiritual.
